If you’re getting married at The Radstone Hotel in Larkhall, South Lanarkshire you’ve chosen a fantastic venue for your wedding morning, particularly when it comes to having plenty of space for your bridal party, hair, makeup, photographer and videographer.
I’ve worked at The Radstone dozens of times over the years so I know the bridal preparation space extremely well. And as I’m based in the Clyde Valley just nine minutes away it’s one of my most local wedding venues.
Your Bridal Makeup Preview Before the Wedding
Being so close to The Radstone is also really convenient when it comes to your bridal makeup preview.
My bridal makeup previews take place at my home studio in South Lanarkshire so many of my Radstone brides make a lovely afternoon of it. They have their makeup preview with me and then head over to The Radstone afterwards for lunch, dinner or cocktails with their partner or bridal party.
It’s a lovely way to turn another item on the wedding planning list into part of the experience.
Where Does Bridal Preparation Take Place at The Radstone?
Whenever I’ve worked at The Radstone my brides have chosen to book the conference room for their wedding morning rather than getting ready in a hotel bedroom.
And if your budget allows I really do think the extra space is worth considering.
The room is long, wide and filled with windows giving your wedding suppliers plenty of room to work without your bridal party feeling as though everyone is on top of one another.
Those windows aren’t only fantastic for natural light but being able to get some fresh air into the room can make such a difference, particularly during a summer wedding when you have several people getting ready alongside hair stylists, makeup artists, photographers and videographers.
Your wedding morning should feel exciting and relaxed, not cramped and chaotic.
Where I Set Up My Bridal Makeup Kit
Hair stylists naturally need access to plug sockets whereas as a makeup artist what I really need is good natural light and enough surface space to lay out my professional kit properly.
It might sound like a small detail but it genuinely matters.
The more efficiently a professional bridal makeup artist can organise and lay out their kit the more efficiently they can work. Imagine asking your wedding cake designer to create a four tier wedding cake while squeezed into the corner of a busy kitchen, technically possible, perhaps, but certainly not the environment you would choose for your wedding cake!
At The Radstone I particularly like setting up on the side of the table by the television. The natural daylight in this part of the room is fantastic for makeup application and gives me an ideal working space.
One Little Radstone Wedding Morning Tip…
After working at the venue so many times there is one simple tip I give my Radstone brides:
Keep the ends of the large table free for your hair and makeup team.
When breakfast, coffees, snacks and champagne arrive try to keep them towards the centre of the table rather than spreading everything from one end to the other.
It means your hair and makeup artists can arrive, set up quickly and get straight to work without having to reorganise the room first.
That said please don’t worry if you haven’t thought about any of this on the morning.
I always arrive early.
If something needs moved or rearranged before I set up I’ll take care of it. Your wedding morning isn’t the time for you to be worrying about where my makeup brushes are going!
You’ve hired me to bring experience, organisation and professionalism to your morning and that begins before I apply the first bit of makeup.
Why The Radstone Works So Well for Bridal Preparation
The Radstone is a terrific wedding venue. I’ve eaten there many times myself. The surroundings are beautiful for photographs and one of its biggest advantages for bridal preparation is simply space.
Rather than having your entire bridal party squeezed into a hotel bedroom alongside hair, makeup, dresses, flowers, bags, a photographer and a videographer, you have the option to give everyone room.
Yes hiring the additional preparation space is another wedding expense but having worked at so many wedding venues over the years I can tell you that many simply don’t have this amount of space available.
After months, sometimes years of planning your wedding, having a calm spacious room where you can sit with your bridal party, enjoy the morning and let your suppliers do their jobs properly can be worth every penny.
A Local Bridal Makeup Artist for The Radstone Hotel
The Radstone Hotel is located at 3 Ayr Road, Shawsburn, Larkhall, ML9 2TZ, South Lanarkshire.
Being based in the Clyde Valley means I’m only around nine minutes away.
For my Radstone brides that provides reassurance on the wedding morning. I’m not travelling across the country, negotiating Glasgow motorway traffic or setting off on a long journey during unpredictable Scottish winter weather.
It’s a short familiar drive to a venue I’ve worked at many times over the years.
And when you’re choosing the suppliers responsible for getting you ready on the morning of your wedding, reliability matters.
Invest in Your Bridal Makeup
You’ve spent time finding the wedding dress that makes you feel incredible. You’ve chosen your flowers, your venue, your bridal hair and all those beautiful details that will bring the day together.
Your bridal makeup deserves that same consideration.
Because when you walk down the aisle people aren’t looking at your shoes or the table decorations.
They’re looking at you
Your face. Your expression. Your smile. The moment your partner sees you for the first time.
And long after the flowers have gone and the wedding day is over those expressions will still be there in your photographs.
My approach to bridal makeup is about making you feel like the most beautiful, polished version of yourself. Bridal makeup that photographs beautifully, lasts throughout your wedding day and most importantly still feels like you.
If you’re getting married at The Radstone Hotel, Larkhall and would like an experienced South Lanarkshire bridal makeup artist who already knows your venue I’d love to hear about your wedding.
